Professor Peter Tregear OAM

A graduate of the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music (where he is a Principal Fellow), Peter subsequently undertook doctoral studies at King’s College, Cambridge, and was then appointed a Lecturer and Director of Music at Fitzwilliam College. After returning to Australia he served as Executive Director of the Academy of Performing Arts at Monash University and from 2012–2015 he was Head of the ANU School of Music in Canberra. More recently he was a Teaching Fellow in Music and Director of Undergraduate Studies at Royal Hollow, University of London and Dean of St Mark’s College in Adelaide. Active as a performer and public commentator on arts and culture, Peter has also published widely in both the academic and the mainstream press. He holds an Adjunct Professorship at the University of Adelaide and also serves on the Boards of a number of community organisations. In 2020 he was awarded an OAM for services to music education and professional societies.
