Choosing the right suburb
Every Melbourne suburb has something different to offer, whether it's green spaces, urban life or by the sea. It's important to understand your priorities and use that as a guide to help you decide where to live. It's good idea to visit a suburb to get a feel and decide if the location is convenient for commuting to uni. Here's a guide to some areas to get you started.
Living close to our Parkville campus
For local students, the University of Melbourne's Parkville campus is a commuter campus. The majority of local students take advantage of our public transport system and commute each day from the family home in the suburbs. Rural, interstate and international students tend to choose options closer to campus. This has resulted in a strong student culture developing around the northern edge of the city. Living close to our Parkville campus has its benefits - you can access a range of sporting facilities, study zones, outdoor spaces, cafes and more. It means you have more time to hang with your friends, catch up on study, relax and have fun.
