The Melbourne School Enrichment Program
(MSEP) is the University of Melbourne’s equity
access partner program offered to select schools in metropolitan and regional Victoria.
The program offers a suite of hands-on experiences that familiarise students with campus life, while connecting them with current students from a similar
background.

Early access
You'll receive exclusive opportunities to access programs, including free excursions to Science Gallery, priority access to events, and bespoke workshops designed for your students by our faculties.
Dedicated contact
You'll have a dedicated University staff member as your point of contact to help support your students in their journey to tertiary education. You’ll also be invited to engage with University senior leaders at our Career Practitioners’ Equity Forum.
Regional bus fund
If your school is in a regional or rural area, we will support your students to get to our Parkville, Dookie or Southbank campuses, ensuring they can experience all that the University of Melbourne has to offer.

Mentoring
Current University of Melbourne students from similar local areas act as ambassadors, sharing their lived experience and providing a relatable example of success. They support the transition to university through presentations and bookable one-on-one appointments.
Academic support
Support your students’ academic success in VCE and reinforce the importance of prerequisite subjects for university entry. Students will also have access to additional VCE revision lectures.

Our Ambassador Program ensures that your alums receive priority access to employment opportunities with the University as the next cohort of student ambassadors.
Program of activities
Curate a bespoke experience for your students through a flexible program of activities. Designed to inspire and inform your students, you can choose from a range of excursions, peer-to-peer activities and support, and priority access to University of Melbourne experiences.
Year round
Funding is available to support schools to bring students – both groups and individuals – to experience our Parkville, Dookie or Southbank campuses.
We’ll cover 50% of your bus hire fee or reimburse 50% of petrol costs if you’re using a school-owned bus. Get in touch to request more information or submit an application.
Bring curriculum-linked learning to life through interactive tours of Science Gallery Melbourne exhibitions. Sessions include group discussion and activities that build students’ ethical, personal and social capabilities through science, art and technology.
Designed and delivered by trained university students and recent graduates, these experiences also provide authentic and relevant insights into study options and potential career pathways.

Help your students connect classroom learning with university study options. These activities allow students to explore majors within the Bachelor of Commerce that align with the VCE curriculum, including Accounting, Economics, Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Business Management.

Engage your Year 11–12 students in a Faculty of Arts workshop exploring communication in crisis scenarios.
Tasked with responding to a fictional zombie outbreak, students step into the role of crisis communicators helping to prevent a zombie apocalypse. How would they communicate with the public, respond to misinformation, and decide which channels to use in fast-moving situations?

Book a student ambassador from a similar local area to explain what university is all about. Focused on the transition from high school to university, the presentation covers support services, how to make friends, student life and more. If preferred, this activity can become a student panel or forum.

sheCommerce is for Year 9-12 high school students who identify as women or non-binary and are passionate about leadership and pursuing a career where they can impact change. Students enter the program in Year 9 and at least two places are reserved for eligible students from each MSEP school.
A calendar of activities runs throughout the year, including workshops for Year 9–10 and an overnight camp for Year 11.

The Faculty of Fine Arts and Music is offering a practical workshop presented by Andrea Keller (Head of Jazz and Improvisation, MCM), students will explore strategies and tools for improvisation and the creation of original music.
Andrea, along with students from the Jazz and Improvisation department at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, will demonstrate approaches to practicing and performing improvisation in solo and group settings.

Term two
The Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars Program is an academic enrichment program. MSEP schools may be eligible for an additional place.
Student applications open in July. Places are awarded based on school endorsement preferences (endorse at least two student applicants).
MSEP schools are invited to revision lectures for select VCE subjects in school holidays.

A Day at Melbourne provides students with the opportunity to experience a day in the life of a university student.
Year 9 and 10
This event is focused on providing hands on experiences and workshops that expose students the idea of university. It includes a scavenger hunt and separate activities for parents.
Year 11 and 12
Our Year 11 and 12 event is discipline focused with sample lectures and tutorials for your students to try out. It also includes campus and accommodation tours.

Run over four years, this program teaches girls about careers in STEM and builds a community of like-minded individuals through camps, work experience and mentoring opportunities. The program is open to students in Year 9 only. Applications for 2026 have now closed.
Students will be able to indicate their MSEP eligibility in the application form. 10% of places in the camp are reserved for MSEP school students.

Considering studying health at university? This is a dedicated session where you will have the opportunity to hear from students who are now studying the Bachelor of Biomedicine.
In this session they will talk about their experience, why they chose this degree, student life and answer any questions you might have during the live Q&A segment.

This outreach program is run by the Faculty of Science and is aimed at inspiring year 7–10 high school students from low socioeconomic status areas to continue studying science and go to university.
Students will watch science demonstrations, then break off into small groups to participate in hands-on activities. The group will also watch videos, and hear more from the presenters about their background, experiences at University and future career plans.
