University of Melbourne events
The University hosts several major events each year for senior secondary school students keen to learn more about the Melbourne experience.
Further information on coming student events is available via our university events website.
Virtual presentations or webinars
In-school webinars provide an effective and convenient means of exploring all that University of Melbourne has to offer without the need for travel. A webinar may stream into a single central device in the classroom or to individual student laptops or tablets within the school.
Webinars for Years 10 -12 students run for around 40 minutes and can be tailored to suit your students’ needs. They may include:
- A University overview
- Admissions information specific to your school (including Access Melbourne special admissions eligibility and state specific entry requirements)
- Q&A sessions with current Melbourne students
Webinars are subject to staffing availability.
Campus visit (you come to us)
Our return to campus is informed by government and public health advice. We are currently accepting bookings and will be in touch to confirm arrangements.
Please note that when visits resume, strict health and safety requirements must be observed. You will be advised of these obligations during the booking process.
University presentations and tours
University presentations and tours are available at set times each week.
Presentations are conducted by a staff member from the Onshore Recruitment team and provide an overview of the University, course information, admissions requirements, scholarship opportunities and information about the academic and social aspects of university life. Tours may be escorted or self-guided. Escorted tours are led by current University of Melbourne students while self-guided groups are provided with maps and background notes to inform their exploration of the campus.
Duration: 1.5 hours (comprising a 45 minute presentation and 45 minute tour)
Available to Year 11 and 12 students in Terms 1 – 4 and Year 10 in Terms 1 & 4 only.
When: On Tuesdays at 10am, Wednesdays at 11am and Thursdays at 1pm (subject to venue capacity and availability).
Guided campus tours are hosted by current University of Melbourne students who design the tour to best suit the needs and interests of visiting groups. See the campus from their eyes as you tour the University’s extensive grounds.
Duration: 1 hour
Available to Years 11 & 12 students in Terms 1 to 4 and Year 10 students in Term 4 only.
When: 9am to 2pm Tuesday to Friday as arranged.
Self-guided tours allow school groups to explore the campus at their own pace. The timing of visits is completely flexible and detailed maps are provided to guide you as you make away around the beautiful grounds.
Indigenous student consultations
If Indigenous students will be visiting with your school group, consider organising a session with staff at Murrup Barak – the Melbourne Institute for Indigenous Development to learn about the support programs and services for prospective and current students. These sessions can be tailored to suit your students and program.
Available to Years 7 to 12 students
When: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm by appointment in Terms 1 to 4.

- Are scheduled between 9am and 5pm on weekdays
- Service multiple schools
- Are appropriate for both Year 11 and 12 students, and
- Are scheduled for no more than two hours.
Invitations are considered on a case-by-case basis and subject to health and safety requirements.
