Meet Nhat, Bachelor of Commerce student

From Vietnam, Nhat Duy Do is a recipient of the Melbourne International Undergraduate Scholarship. Nhat is currently studying the Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Marketing.

For Nhat, The University of Melbourne is the ideal place to launch his dream of running his own business.

Why did you choose your course and major?
I chose a Bachelor of Commerce because of my passion for entrepreneurship and creativity. I personally believe this course provides me with practical and useful insights into business and the economy. Because of my ambition for a start-up and my personality, Commerce is the best fit for me. From my viewpoint, creativity is the most critical factor in reaching any target. Marketing is a field that requires consistent innovation and creativity to attract consumers. That immersing myself in imagination and creative thoughts inspires me with passion and motivation to choose this major and maybe pursue a career in Marketing later on. Marketing enables me to gradually get out of my comfort zone, meticulously experiment with new ideas and become venturesome

Why did you choose to study at The University of Melbourne?
I aspire to become a marketer, who conveys values to consumers while sustaining people’s welfare. At The University of Melbourne, I look forward to courses such as Global Marketing and Strategic Marketing, as I believe these will provide me with deeper insights into the connection between Marketing in companies with environmental, political, and social aspects. At Unimelb, I devote myself to the Consumer Behavior course, collecting in-depth data and analysing consumer psychology and emotional regulation affecting firms' profit. This will help me to understand people’s shopping habits and devise effective strategies. Various voluntary work offered by the UMSU and social activities from clubs enables me to apply my experience while maintaining a healthy mental and social life.

How will the scholarship help you in your study plans?
I am honored to be awarded the Melbourne International Undergraduate Scholarship. This scholarship supports me financially to cover up my tuition fee and help me to concentrate more on my study. Moreover, the scholarship also acts as a motivation for me to further perfect myself and work harder. Because of this, I always try to study to the fullest in order to make the most out of the scholarship and to prove that I deserve it.
