Graduate Certificate in Clinical Education

Where will this take me?

Overview

As an EXCITE graduate, you will be a leader in developing and evaluating educational quality in your organisation.

With a further year of part-time study, you can progress from the Graduate Certificate in Clinical Education to a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Education, and with a further two years, you can acquire a Master of Clinical Education, which includes a research project tailored to your field of work.

The Masters is also a recognised platform of research training from which you could pursue ongoing research at a PhD level with the Department of Medical Education.

Profile

Harlina Siraj

"Since obtaining my Graduate Certificate of Clinical Teaching (now named Graduate Certificate of Clinical Education) and progressing to the Graduate Diploma of Clinical Education, I became a more informed and trained clinician educator.

I’ve transformed by clinical teaching to be more learner-centred, individualised and personalised. I was trained to provide better feedback to my learners and enhance their learning experience, and I decided to step down from being the educator at the centre-stage of the class to be more approachable and keen on facilitating my learners’ discovery - I moved from being the Sage on the Stage to become more of a Guide at the Side.

Throughout 2016, I pioneered a series of faculty development programs for the clinician educators at UKM medical school, entitled Basics in Clinical Education (BICE). I hope to start a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Clinical Education at UKM within the next five years.

It is never too late to learn new tricks, providing one is willing to relearn, unlearn and continue learning. The networking, collaboration and teamwork among EXCITE participants is truly enriching & exciting!"
