Graduate Certificate in Indigenous Business Leadership

Admission criteria

To be considered for entry into this course, you must be an Indigenous person who identifies and is recognised as an Indigenous person.

You must also have:

  • An undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in any discipline, OR
  • At least five years of documented relevant work experience (or equivalent).

English language requirements

All applicants to the University of Melbourne must satisfy the English language requirements. This may be achieved in a number of ways, including recognised previous study taught and assessed entirely in English or an approved English language test. If you are from a non-English speaking background, the required standard of English for this degree is one of the following English proficiency test scores:

About selection

When assessing applications, the Selection Committee will consider your previous studies and academic performance.

The Selection Committee may request additional information to clarify any aspect of an application, according to the University’s Academic Board rules regarding selection instruments.

Meeting the published entry requirements for this course does not guarantee selection.

Note: Confirming Indigenous status for Australian students

Upon submitting your application, you will be required to contact Murrup Barak, Melbourne Institute for Indigenous Development situated at the University of Melbourne.

Proof of Aboriginality is required to be considered in selection, a certified copy of a confirmation from an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander controlled company, organisation, orlocal Land Council is required. You will be required to upload this as ‘Supporting Documentation’ in your application.

If you are unable to provide a certified copy of confirmation, or are in the process of obtaining one, then you will be required to confirm this with Murrup Barak Indigenous Student Services immediately after submitting your application at: email murrup-barak@unimelb.edu.au You can read more about Murrup Barak’s confirmation guidelines here.

Advanced Standing

Prior studies may be credited towards your degree and potentially reduce the duration of your course. This is known as Advanced Standing (also known as credit or recognition of prior learning).
