Graduate Certificate in Transfusion Practice

      Where will this take me?


      Who the course is for

      This course is ideal for health professionals including nurses, midwives and scientists, currently working in a relevant area of transfusion practice and/or blood management. Staff responsible for managing Australian National Safety and Quality Healthcare Standards, Blood Management Standard (7) and associated activities, or working towards, this should also apply. It is recommended that you have the support of your employing health/laboratory service to undertake this course.

      Career outcomes

      This course will demonstrate that you have advanced blood management knowledge. The skills you will gain may assist you to advance your career and undertake different activities or move into new areas of clinical practice, quality or management. If you are a nurse, you may be able to use your new skills to advance into a specialist role, such as transfusion nurse.

      Further study

      Nurses that complete the Graduate Certificate in Transfusion Practice may be eligible to gain 50 credit points towards the Master of Advanced Nursing Practice.

      Nurses that decide to enrol in one of the following specialty graduate certificates will receive 12.5 credit points, equivalent to an elective subject. Available specialties include: anaesthetics, critical care, emergency, perioperative, rural critical care, paediatric critical care, cancer and palliative care, mental health, paediatrics and primary care.
