2025 Start Year Intake

Applications open on 29 July

Applications close on 31 October

There are two components to your application:

  1. The university application
  2. The supplementary application, submitted digitally via Fine Arts and Music’s SlideRoom

You must submit both components 1 and 2 by the application closing date.


1. Review entry requirements and eligibility
2. Gather your supporting documentation

As part of your application, you’ll be required to submit:

  • Transcripts and detailed information related to all previous studies you have undertaken and/or completed, including an explanation of the grading system used and official certified English translation of any document that is not written in English.   • Evidence of meeting the University's English language requirements.
  • Prepare your supplementary application, submitted digitally via Fine Arts and Music’s SlideRoom

    1. An academic writing sample, AND
    2. A curriculum vitae (CV), AND
    3. Two referees
      1. Once detailed in your supplementary application form, your referees will be sent a referee report to complete. It is your responsibility to ensure references are completed no later than one week after applications close.

  • In addition to your direct application via the University’s application portal, above, you must also submit your academic writing sample and CV  via the supplementary application (digital, submitted via Fine Arts and Music’s SlideRoom) by the closing date.
Additional application considerations

Where a course offers both Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) and Australian Full Fee places, you only need to submit an application for one fee type. You will automatically be considered for a CSP if you are eligible.


  • All communications related to your application, including requests for additional information and application outcomes, will be sent to the email address you registered for your application. To avoid delays, please upload requested information as soon as possible.
  • Track the progress of your application via the Application Portal.
  • Please note that the Admissions team will only contact you via email if anything else is needed; there's no need to enquire about the timeline in the meantime.
  • If your application is shortlisted, and if you are applying from outside the field of musicology or ethnomusicology (for example, art history, cultural studies or anthropology), you will also be required to attend an interview.
