Overview

What you will learn

Extend capability in interdisciplinary best practice in sports health and exercise

You will explore and evaluate complex information to advise athletes of all ages and abilities on injury management, rehabilitation and exercise participation.

Become a leader in sports medicine

You will critically evaluate the scope of practice and expertise of other professionals, leading to appropriate management, referral, communication and exemplary professional and ethical practice.

Evidence-informed reasoning and decision-making

You will contribute to the advancement of sports, health and exercise disciplines and incorporate new developments through evidence-informed practice and critical discussion.

Course structure

For the award of Master of Sports Medicine you must complete 150 points comprising of:

  • Seven 12.5-point core subjects
  • Three 12.5-point elective subjects
  • One 25-point capstone subject.

Alternative exit pathways are available through the Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma of Sports Medicine.

Workload

The estimated hours required for each subject is between 12-15 hours per week, but this varies for each student and depends on your task management and planning, familiarity with the material, reading style and speed.
