Overview

The Faculty of Education

The Faculty of Education is a vibrant and exciting place to study, where you can join the best and brightest education professionals and become part of a community committed to changing lives through education.

We have a strong focus on education research and evidence-based practices. You will be taught and supported by recognised experts in their field, making you a highly sought-after teacher. Explore our academic staff profiles here.

Support while you learn

We prepare you to become leaders in the profession with the confidence to teach in early childhood and classroom settings.

With our extensive network of schools and early childhood services, our placement program is the most comprehensive in Victoria. Alumni and employers speak highly of their placement experiences.

We take pride in the excellent support we can offer you, particularly the guidance when leading a class for the first time. From Semester 1, you will become an active member of a school or early childhood community to implement what you learn at university. You will receive ongoing support from a Mentor Teacher and Clinical Specialist.

Indigenous support and knowledge

We welcome Indigenous students and offer a range of support services here at the University of Melbourne via Murrup Barak, Melbourne Institute for Indigenous Development.

We are working to empower all teachers to integrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in their teaching through the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Project.

The student-led representative body, the Indigenous Graduate Student Association (IGSA), supports graduate coursework and research students, enables collaboration between Indigenous and non-Indigenous students and staff, and encourages potential future Indigenous graduate students.

Life at Melbourne

Located on the city side of the University’s Parkville campus, we are a short walk to the CBD, the famous Queen Victoria Market, cafes, restaurants, shops, theatres, galleries and bars.

We ensure a supportive environment for all students and offer a range of enrichment activities, including a student mentoring program, wellbeing services and academic skills support.
