Specialist Certificate in Blood Management Foundations
Who you will learn from
The course is delivered in partnership with the Australian Red Cross Blood Service under the auspices of the Blood Matters Program and the Department of Health and Human Services, Victoria. It is conducted by an experienced nurse educator with an extensive clinical background in haematology and transfusion and is the only online Specialist Certificate in Blood Management Foundations course in the Southern Hemisphere.
The academic team in this course is led by Course Coordinator Dr Rebecca Disler, with Ms Judy Forsyth, Clinical Nurse Educator, as online facilitator.
This is a distance education course taught entirely online over 1 semester. Students must have access to computer facilities and the internet. Students are required to be familiar with the internet and will need to have basic computer and word processing skills. Specifically, students need to be able to write, edit and save an essay on the computer.
Login details for the web-enabled learning platform are provided once you are enrolled into the course.
The online facilitator is available online and responds to emails, checks discussion postings and monitors progress on discussion threads. Appointments can be made for telephone discussions via email.
It is common for students to access course information from a range of computers and devices, and they must all be checked to ensure that they allow full functionality. In particular, hospital computer systems may have firewalls in place that do not allow full access and you should alert your IT administrator to these requirements well in advance of needing access using work based computers.
