Student experience

Overview

The Specialist Certificate in Public Health will provide skills that prepare students for public health practice and strengthen existing professional skills in health care practice, policy and management.

The Specialist Certificate will also provide a stepped pathway into Graduate Certificate in Public Health and the University’s flagship Master of Public Health (MPH) program.

Public health in practice

This subject can be taken as an elective subject as part of the Specialist Certificate in Public Health. Students will apply the knowledge and skills acquired in the pre-requisite subjects to real-world scenarios through a Problem Based Learning (PBL) approach. Students will be presented with a range of contemporary public health issues that will require them to consider an appropriate population health response. These scenarios will expose students to a range of public health roles, perspectives and problems that they, as future public health practitioners, may be presented with in the real-world setting.
