Application Requirements


For entry into the specialisation, all applicants must meet the standard eligibility for the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Degree with Honours), in addition to the requirements below.

Folio and Proposal


Submit a folio and research proposal via the supplementary application form


Your folio should document recent work relevant to the research proposal. Please only submit a maximum of 10 images or 8 minutes of video or up to 10 pages of a sample script, press cuttings, programs or reviews.

  • Images should be a maximum file size of 5MB at 300dpi
  • A showreel video is acceptable
  • All files must be numbered to correspond to a separate listing of the title, date, venue and creators of each work
  • Email attachments of your folio will not be accepted
  • If your video file exceeds 250MB, you must upload it to a video platform such as YouTube or Vimeo and submit the URL link. Do not password protect your video/s.


Interview Requirements

Shortlisted candidates are required to attend an interview to discuss their research proposal and practice as the final component of their application.

2021 Start Year Intake

Interviews will take place in December 2020 or January 2021


Applicants will be charged a non-refundable application fee payable via the supplementary application.

Please note that some domestic applicants may be eligible for a waiver of the supplementary application fee, if you are a Health Care Card holder or have special circumstances.

For persons who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, the supplementary application fee will be waived. Please contact the Wilin Centre for Indigenous Arts and Cultural Development for assistance.

If you believe you are eligible for a waiver of the supplementary application fee, please email prior to submitting your supplementary application form, and include a scanned copy of the relevant documentation as evidence of your eligibility.
