This micro-credential is designed for health professionals, industry professionals, researchers and other professionals in the oncology sector seeking to advance or refresh skills and knowledge in high-demand areas.

This includes oncology physician specialists (medical, radiation, surgical), cancer nurses, cancer allied health professionals, clinical trial assistants, study coordinators, investigators, researchers, biomedical and pharmaceutical scientists, and general practitioners.

To enrol in this course, you require a bachelors degree in a relevant area.

This course has been co-designed with the VCCC Alliance, an alliance of 10 leading research, clinical and academic institutions with a shared commitment to saving lives through the integration of cancer research, education and patient care.

• ICH Good Clinical Practice guidelines
• National Clinical Trials Governance Framework
• Therapeutic Goods Act 1989 (Cth)
• PIC/S Guide to Good Manufacturing Practice for Medicinal Products PE 009-13, Pharmaceutical Inspection Convention and Pharmaceutical Inspection Co-operation Scheme 2017.

The course is designed to rapidly build your knowledge and confidence in a sought-after skill area, and provide you with the guidance to apply this within your own practice.

By the end of this course, you'll have advanced your knowledge of clinical trial development. You'll be able to:

• Articulate the importance of a clinical trial protocol in advancing scientific understanding in a given field
• Develop a clinical trial protocol

This micro-credential runs over six weeks, including four weeks of guided learning and two weeks of asynchronous learning inclusive of assessment tasks.

Your total time commitment is approximately 42 hours, which includes:

• 12 hours guided learning, including a one-hour webinar
• 10 hours self and peer learning
• 20 hours feedback or assessment tasks

Assessment:

• Plain language statement (30%)
• Protocol outline (70%)

Once you've successfully completed this course, you will be awarded your Clinical Trial Protocol Design Melbourne MicroCert. This digital certificate will warrant the achievement of knowledge, skills and capabilities outlined in the learning outcomes. It may also include artefacts (such as videos and written material) related to both experiential and work-integrated learning, including translatable assessment that is practical to your professional life. You can also share your Melbourne MicroCert digitally and via social media by adding it to your personal platforms, such as LinkedIn. See example certificate.

Clinical Trial Protocol Design can be taken as a stand-alone course or complemented with any other micro-credential in the Emerging Topics in Oncology series to deepen your knowledge and skills.

It may also provide a pathway to apply for advance standing into an accredited course. If you complete the three micro-credentials in the Emerging Topics in Oncology series, plus one more micro-credential, as advised, you may then apply for credit towards a relevant qualification.
