Globally, violence against women is an urgent public health, human rights, economic and public policy priority. Robust data on violence against women (VAW) is essential for prevention and response efforts, but it's crucial this data is collected safely and accurately.

The kNOwVAWdata course is for professionals and researchers seeking to build their capacity to collect and interpret data to measure VAW and help address this urgent issue.

This course is offered in partnership with UNFPA, ANROWS and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).

Discover tools that generate reliable, comparable data

Compare survey tools and methodologies for measuring VAW and consider which approaches are right for your context. This includes prevalence surveys and administrative data among others.

Understand how to undertake a national prevalence study

Investigate the processes involved in a national prevalence study. Explore how to build a research team and consider fieldwork logistics. Examine how to plan a survey and principles for interviewing utilising best practice ethical and safety guidelines.

Enhance your data management and analysis skills

Build your capabilities and confidence in managing, analysing and disseminating different types of data for different purposes including understanding the extent and nature of VAW, the impact on programs and response services, as well as planning prevention initiatives. Working with quantitative and qualitative data, learn to synthesise the information to build a more complete understanding of VAW and what works to improve the situation for victim/survivors.

Explore how to translate data insights into action
