Photography is central to the world of new media, which is increasingly important in our daily lives, communities and workplaces, as new platforms and applications allow us to communicate in powerful and meaningful ways.
This immersive online course provides an in-depth look at a wide range of new media, technology and software used in contemporary arts practice, with a focus on photography. Led by creative-digital experts from the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music, you'll gain the confidence to use photography, light, photogrammetry, and to express and explore contemporary ideas through this medium.
It is ideal for anyone interested in developing new skills or honing an existing practice in photography and new media.

Gain a grounding in new media
Guided by creative-digital experts, explore what 'new' media is, and how it can be used to express and explore contemporary ideas in a range of creative industry, community and professional contexts.
Understand the fundamentals of photography
Learn the fundamentals of photography and how they can be utilised in a creative process. Be introduced to the key concepts of light and shadow, and explore a range of foundational photographic techniques.
Explore contemporary photographic practices and creative expression
Gain an overview of contemporary photographic practices and engage in exploratory practices based on the theme 'light and shadow'.
Develop your own creative work and build confidence
As a final creative exercise, you will be given a prompt related to the theme 'light and shadow', from which you will develop artwork that tests and expands your new skills and knowledge.
