Multi-media practices play an important role in new media, which is increasingly important in our daily lives, communities and workplaces, as new platforms and applications allow us to communicate in powerful and meaningful ways.

This immersive online course provides an in-depth look at a wide range of new media, technology and software used in contemporary arts practice, with a focus on interactive and multi-media. Led by creative-digital experts from the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music, you'll gain the confidence to use multi-media to express and explore contemporary ideas.

It is ideal for anyone interested in developing new skills or honing an existing practice in new media.

Understand the fundamentals of multi-media

Learn the fundamentals of multi-media and gain an overview of contemporary multi-media practices. Be introduced to relational action and interactive media, and explore foundational interactive media techniques that help inform a memorable and meaningful new media practice.

Explore how objects, people and spaces work together

Investigate the relationships, including cause and effect, between objects, people and spaces in multi-media. Engage with exploratory creative practices based on 'relational action' to help develop your own practice.

Develop your own creative work and build confidence

As a final creative exercise, you will be given a prompt related to the theme 'relational action', from which you will develop artwork that tests and expands your new skills and knowledge.
