Graduate Diploma in Music (Tailored Program) creative application requirements

The Graduate Diploma in Music (Tailored Program) has additional requirements used as part of the selection process. Find out everything you need to know about the application process.

To be considered for selection into the Graduate Diploma in Music (Tailored Program), you need to submit a course application and prepare a personal statement.

As part of the application, the Selection Committee will also consider your curriculum vitae (CV).

Please note that this course is suspended for the 2027 intake.

Your personal statement should be no fewer than 250 words and address all of the following questions (do not copy these questions into your statement):

  • Why do you want to do the Graduate Diploma in Music (Tailored Program)?
  • What made you choose the tailored stream?
  • Tell us about the field/s within music that interest you (for example, music theory and analysis, performance practice, musicology, or education)
  • Tell us about things outside music that interest you or that you have previous background in (for example, languages, politics, psychology, etc.).
  • What do you think are your main strengths? And your weaknesses?
  • Are there any areas or topics that you would like to explore more?

You will be asked to provide the name and contact details of two referees to submit a referee report on your behalf.

Your referees may submit their referee reports up to 5 days after the Graduate Diploma in Music application deadline. It is strongly recommended that you also contact your referees directly to notify them of your application and the pending deadline.

How to submit your selection tasks

Your personal statement must be uploaded and submitted via the Creative Application Platform (SlideRoom). We recommend allowing plenty of time to prepare and submit your tasks. Applications received after the published closing day cannot be accepted.
