2027 Start Year Intake
Filmmaking specialisation
International applicants:
Main round - Interviews will take place on Wednesday 10 and Friday 12 June.
Late round - Interviews will take place in November.
Domestic applicants:
Main round - Interviews will take place in November.
Screen Producing specialisation
International applicants:
Main round - Interviews will take place on 4th June.
Late round - Interviews will take place in November.
Domestic applicants:
Main round - Interviews will take place in November.
Interview requirements
Filmmaking Specialisation:
Shortlisted applicants will be required to discuss their creative work and suitability for the course with an interview panel. Further information will be given to each candidate invited to interview.
The interview will run for approximately 30 minutes and will be conducted online via Zoom Web Conferencing.
Due to time restrictions, the panel will not read scripts or writing samples during or after the interview.
Applicants should prepare to discuss:
- their filmmaking work; and
- creative work; and
- motivation and suitability for the course; and
- two short projects to make during the course; and
- involvement in the film community.
Screen Producing Specialisation:
An interview will be required for all shortlisted applicants as part of the selection process. Interviews will take approximately 20 minutes. Further information will be given to each candidate invited to interview.
Applicants should prepare to discuss:
- sincere interest in and commitment to work as a producer and the specific training that this course provides; and
- prior and current experience in film, television or allied industries; and
- ability to meet the academic demands of this course.

How will I be assessed?
Applicants' Portfolio will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
Filmmaking Specialisation
- prior experience
- level of technical and conceptual ability in the production of screenwork
- creativity and insightfulness of ideas
- visual storytelling ability
Screen Producing Specialisation
- interest in the study of screen producing, understanding of the profession and of literature
- clarity and purpose of vision
- relevant experience
Applicants' Interview will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
Filmmaking Specialisation
- objectivity to critique own film work
- ability to communicate technical and creative ideas
- career aspirations and articulation of their own practice and passions
- understanding of the course structure and expectations of the program
Please note that all applicants will be ranked based on the above criteria, up to the capacity of places within the course.
Screen Producing Specialisation
- their interest in the study of screen producing
- their understanding of the profession and of literature
- any relevant experience

Conditions of Enrolment
Successful applicants will be required to hold a current First Aid Certificate and Working with Children Check and these must remain valid for the duration of the course.
