Where can the Diploma in General Studies take you?

The Diploma in General Studies is your chance to explore your options, meet our undergraduate course prerequisites, up-skill with a Certificate III, or gain credit towards a University of Melbourne degree.

This one-year program offers a range of subjects in science, business, agriculture and the environments. You’ll explore how businesses make decisions, what makes animals and plants grow and thrive, how a good manager works, ways we can make our lives more sustainable, and more.

This Diploma may be used as a pathway to the Bachelor of Agriculture, Biomedicine, Commerce, Design or Science. If you’re eligible for Access Melbourne, you may also be eligible for guaranteed entry to one of these undergraduate degrees based on your academic achievement upon graduating from your Diploma.

Entry requirements


These are the subjects (with minimum scores) you must have completed to be eligible for entry to this course. For most applicants this will be done by with the relevant Australian Year 12 subject.

Units 3 & 4: A study score of at least 20 in English/English Language/Literature or at least 25 in EAL.

Not available to International students or Domestic students studying outside Australia. Applicants may be required to attend an interview, complete a test, or supply referee reports or employer references as part of the selection process.
