Discover your pathway to becoming a teacher and learn what makes Melbourne courses unique

Choose an undergraduate degree

Your journey to studying education begins with an undergraduate degree in any discipline. Attend a course overview and make your choice

The Melbourne curriculum

Your Melbourne experience is yours to shape. If you’re interested in education, you can start with any of our undergraduate (bachelors) degrees. This is an opportunity to explore your interests by studying a variety of topics. This enhances your university experience and career options giving you professional expertise across a range of disciplines. As an introduction to education, you can study education subjects in your undergraduate degree through our unique breadth program.

Once you’ve completed your undergraduate degree, you’ll progress to specialised graduate study in education.

Meet Jessica: Master of Teaching (Early Childhood and Primary) student

For Bachelor of Science graduate and Master of Teaching (Early Childhood and Primary) student, Jessica Lee, the University of Melbourne has provided a space to discover what she’s passionate about, build new skills and feel empowered to make a positive impact.

Study education during your undergraduate degree

Study education from day one at Melbourne with breadth. Unique to the Melbourne curriculum, breadth study allows you to tailor your course to fit your individual passions and career ambitions. You may choose to take a single subject in education; or take a sequence of three or more subjects called a breadth track. This can help you develop knowledge and skills relevant to topics like deafness and communication or arts practice and engagement.
