Are you ready to take a step towards your future?
Applications are now open for current Year 12 students across Australia who plan to begin their undergraduate degree at Melbourne in Semester 1, 2025.
Applications for the Hansen Scholarship Program close on 3 April
Valued at up to $108,000, the Hansen Scholarship Program aspires to nurture and significantly expand the horizons of Australian students who may otherwise struggle to access a high-quality university education.
Each year we recognise talented students from around Australia who have demonstrated resilience to adversity, and a commitment to supporting others. Through fully funded accommodation at Little Hall, tailored mentoring and extracurricular activities, and focused financial support, we equip Hansen Scholars with the skills and knowledge to make an impact at Melbourne and beyond.
Benefits of the program
Free accommodation at Little Hall
You'll benefit from the guarantee of accommodation at Little Hall for your three-year undergraduate degree. Ideally located between the heart of Melbourne city and our Parkville campus, you'll find your place in Little Hall's community – a place to call home.
Generous financial support
You'll receive an allowance to support your living expenses. In addition to your accommodation and living allowance, you'll have access to a one-time grant of up to $4000 for an approved development activity such as an international exchange or internship.
Join a supportive community
Hansen Scholars are from diverse backgrounds across Australia. We celebrate the diversity and unique talents of every student. You'll form lifelong bonds with other scholars and you'll become a member of the program's alumni network for life.
Support for your personal growth
A development program will aid you in learning about your strengths and interests to make informed study and career choices. We will connect you with the best of Melbourne’s cultural life and broaden your horizons, while in later years you can take the opportunity to mentor other Hansen Scholars.
Make powerful industry connections
A comprehensive and bespoke mentoring program will connect you to leaders in your chosen field, while program patron Jane Hansen AO will offer sponsorship and support. Take your next steps with confidence, with funding of up to $10,000 for a career-related activity once you complete your undergraduate degree.
Guaranteed place in a professional masters degree
Hansen Scholars who achieve an ATAR of 99.95 and meet the entry requirements will secure a Commonwealth Supported Place in their chosen masters before they start their undergraduate degree.
Take a tour of Little Hall
Little Hall will be your home away from home for the duration of your time as a Hansen Scholar. The residence boasts a rooftop terrace and garden, an indoor cinema, gym, bicycle storage, shared kitchen spaces, laundry facilities and an onsite support team.
A foundation to unleash ambition
Advancing the future of Australia through access to excellence in tertiary education is one of the Hansen Little Foundation’s core beliefs.
Jane Hansen AO and Paul Little AO believe that an individual’s life trajectory should be guided by their determination to achieve their ambitions, regardless of any limiting social or economic barriers.
In January 2023, Jane was appointed the 23rd Chancellor of the University of Melbourne.
