Learners who successfully complete a short course will receive a certificate of completion as evidence of their participation. Those who complete a micro-credential will receive a link via email to a digital certificate, which can be saved and shared online.

What is a digital certificate?
Digital certificates are designed to showcase what you’ve achieved through your micro-credential. They are available electronically to allow you to share them online and with your managers, future employers, peers, or mentors.
Each certificate includes detailed metadata about what you have learned and the skills you’ve gained.
At the University of Melbourne, we work closely with industry to design and endorse our digital certificates helping ensure they’re relevant, practical, and focused on real-world skills.
Earning a digital certificate for your micro-credential
Micro-credentials will be awarded on an 'achieved' or 'not achieved' basis, which requires a minimum pass mark or standard of 70% attainment.

- Your digital certificate is an official credential from The University of Melbourne, a reputable and internationally well regarded Australian higher education institution.
- A rigorous, academic quality process, managed by the Academic Programs Committee of University of Melbourne’s professional education, underpins the awarding of your micro-credential digital certificate.
- Your digital certificate provides a secure link to the evidence record of your achievement that can be shared at your discretion, across a variety of popular job/professional networking tools (like LinkedIn) and ePortfolio platforms (like PebblePad).
- Your micro-credential digital certificate is part of a rapidly growing digital credentialing ecosystem world-wide, that allows learners to showcase newly acquired skills.
How do I access my micro-credential digital certificate?
Upon successful completion of a micro-credential, you will receive an email from a platform called Badgr. To access your digital certificate (or 'badge'):
- Click 'Go to account' in your Badgr email.
- Set up an account at unimelb.badgr.io, using the email address you used to register for your micro-credential.
Tip: If you used your work email to register, we suggest changing your primary email address in Badgr after creating your account, so your access won’t be restricted if you change employers in the future. - You will receive an automated email from Badgr. Use this to confirm your Badgr account.
Tip: Check your spam folder if you don’t receive this email straight away. - Sign in to Badgr and navigate to your 'Backpack' where your micro-credential will be stored.
