Academic integrity and use of AI
You are expected to act with honesty and integrity in all aspects of your study.
Academic integrity
All learners must adhere to the University of Melbourne’s academic integrity requirements. This includes:
- Producing original work
- Correctly acknowledging sources
- Avoiding plagiarism and collusion
For more information, see the Student Academic Integrity Policy
Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools
AI tools (such as generative AI or writing assistants) may support your learning, but must be used responsibly.
Your responsibilities
- Ensure all submitted work reflects your own understanding and skills
- Critically review and verify any AI-generated content
- Follow all course-specific instructions regarding AI use
Declaring AI use
You may be required to:
- Acknowledge if and how AI was used
- Identify which parts of your work were supported by AI
Failure to appropriately acknowledge AI use may be considered a breach of academic integrity.
Restrictions
Some assessments may require you to work independently without AI tools. You must follow all stated requirements. For further guidance, visit: Students
