How to apply

You can apply for the Kwong Lee Dow Young program when you're in Year 10, if you attend a Victorian or border-region school (NSW or SA). If you're a teacher, you're also able to nominate a high-achieving student for the program.

If you're a Year 10 student

  1. Applications for the KLD Class of 2022 are now open.

  2. To be considered you must be endorsed by your school. Please speak to your Year 10 Coordinator or Careers Adviser BEFORE completing the application form. More information and a link to the student application form is available in the KLD Flyer which can be downloaded below. Completed applications must be submitted by 18 September 2020.

If you're a teacher and want to nominate a student

The selection panel will consider the student's eligibility, endorsements from school, academic results within the top five per cent of their year level, and leadership potential.

Students will need to demonstrate evidence of leadership, active citizenship and community involvement, such as participation in school activities, community work and cultural, environmental or sporting activities.

Principals, Careers Practitioners and Year 10 Coordinators will receive instructions on how to nominate their students via email. If you wish to nominate a student and have not received an email outlining the process, please contact young-scholars@unimelb.edu.au for the nomination link.
