This course is taught by Australian and international world-leading experts in their field, including Professor George Braitberg AM OStJ, Emergency physician, clinical toxicologist, and Director of Emergency Medicine Research at Austin Health, and Deputy co-director of the Department of Critical Care at the University of Melbourne. You'll leverage the latest practical, evidence-based tools and knowledge, empowering you with new skills you can apply to your workplace.
Flexible and Interactive Learning
The online learning environment has been carefully devised to facilitate an interactive and flexible student experience. At the University of Melbourne, you will have access to the best minds and a dynamic peer group. Throughout the course, you will be able to engage closely with fellow online students and share your knowledge with each other.
Additionally, the course features an intensive 8-day face-to-face program, led by specialists in their field. You'll have the opportunity to put theory into practice via a series of simulation activities testing your ability to respond to crisis situations, including mass casualty active shooter simulations and hazardous materials training. It is highly recommended students attend campus for these workshops, but they may attend some of the workshops virtually.

"I work in Emergency Medicine and being able to manage the department in the event of a disaster is integral to this. This course offered me the opportunity to deepen my knowledge and understanding of the management of disasters both in and pre-hospital."
