Overview

The Master of Clinical Audiology offers a transformative educational experience, equipping you with the skills to improve communication capabilities for individuals of all ages and backgrounds. This course is designed to:

You will join other like-minded students from diverse backgrounds in this fast-paced and challenging course. Over the two-year program, you and your tight-knit student community will experience high levels of clinical exposure. You will learn how to apply technical knowledge and family centred care to ensure the best outcomes for your patients.

Highlights of the Master of Clinical Audiology experience

Day-to-day experience

As a student, you will work closely alongside peers from various backgrounds to develop specialised knowledge and technical skills. You will also benefit from learning with students from diverse educational backgrounds, including information technology, music, psychology, linguistics, auditory neuroscience, and speech pathology.

Throughout the program, you will work closely with experienced clinicians currently practicing in the clinic that is co-located with the teaching program.

Learning mode

The course focuses on early clinical exposure, with client interaction training from day one. Students will be exposed to teaching innovations including simulation and virtual patients to help prepare them for practical experiences within the Melbourne Hearing Care Clinic.

Experienced clinicians in every area of audiology teach in the course. This ensures students learn from a range of experts in best practice.

Opportunities

Clinical Audiology is a career that involves in-depth understanding between clinician and client. Audiology presents many opportunities for you to contribute to the well-being of patients both locally and globally.

Through the University of Melbourne and its affiliated institutions, you will have access to different clinic types throughout the two years of the program. These include within the internal clinic as well as clinics based in community centres, hospitals, telehealth (in Cambodia) and government organisations. Students will also be offered opportunities to participate in placements interstate and overseas.
