The introduction of echocardiography has made a dramatic impact on patient management in the peri-operative, critical care, emergency medicine, surgery and internal medicine environments.

The University of Melbourne has developed a suite of postgraduate clinical ultrasound courses that are offered in distance mode to practising medical professionals who wish to obtain further expertise in medical ultrasound for clinical practice. The suite of programs are designed to be completed in a three stage process, starting with the Graduate Certificate of Clinical Ultrasound course.

The Masters course focuses on 3-D Echocardiography and new technologies, congenital research methods, ultrasound literature, obstetric and medical conditions and completes with an advanced case studies practicum.
