Profile

Thorlene Egerton

Dr Thorlene Egerton is a physiotherapist, senior lecturer and senior research fellow in the Department of Physiotherapy at The University of Melbourne. She has a PhD in Physiotherapy, a post-graduate diploma in Biomechanics and an MPhil (Research) in Bioengineering.

Before undertaking her PhD, Thorlene had many years of clinical experience in a range of healthcare settings in Australia and overseas, with expertise in rehabilitation, in particular, stroke, osteoporosis and falls prevention. She currently works in a teaching role with a focus on health behaviour change, evaluation and research methods. Her research focus within the Centre for Health, Exercise and Sports Medicine team is on closing the evidence-practice gap in primary care management of osteoarthritis, in particular via new models of service delivery and effective patient education.
