Flexible and engaging learning
This is a part time course consisting of two compulsory subjects taken over two semesters. To undertake the course you will need to have appropriate access to, and relationships within, an Aboriginal community or organisation to conduct a community-based project (second subject).
The course offers a unique blend of learning experiences designed to truly empower you. Each subject begins with a compulsory one-week on-campus teaching intensive at our Shepparton Campus. This initial immersive experience provides a strong foundation and a chance to connect face-to-face.
After this, weekly tutorials will be delivered by your academic staff, and you'll have the flexibility to participate either online or in person.
In your second subject, you will undertake a project within an Aboriginal community or organisation, developed in consultation with them. A key focus here is understanding the vital role of community engagement and participation, applying your project skills specifically in rural settings, and seeing the positive outcomes and empowerment for that particular community. This hands-on experience will truly help you gain practical community development and project management skills.
Your learning experience is enriched by interaction with lecturers, tutors and your fellow students. You can expect regular input and feedback from staff, along with opportunities to speak directly with your instructors and peers in real-time.
