This course is designed for professional workforces across all industries, in both regional and metropolitan settings. Deepen your understanding of racism in First Nations contexts
Gain a broad overview of the historical and contemporary policies, processes and behaviours that contribute to racism against First Nations peoples and explore culturally safe frameworks and approaches that support both respectful and effective professional practice.
Strengthen your anti-racism practice with resources grounded in First Nations knowledge
Build the skills to critically examine racism in its various forms and use curated readings, media, and guided discussion activities to reflect on your own perspectives and biases, and gain strategies to overcome them.
Develop an anti-racism action plan you could apply in your workplace
Create an action plan outlining behaviours and practices that promote anti-racist actions in the workplace. Your plan will also describe respectful and inclusive approaches for engaging with First Nations stakeholders. Submit your proposal as written, video, or audio and gain expert feedback from your course facilitators.

Who is it for?
Munarra Anti Racism: A Yorta Yorta Context is suitable for leaders, managers, and employees from organisations across all industries, in both regional and metropolitan settings, who are seeking to build practical anti-racism skills and capabilities at an organisational level.
Learning in this course is equivalent to Level 8 of the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

Be critical consumers of colonial narratives, understanding the complexities of race relations within Australia.
Comprehend theory, history and impacts of racism and anti-racism.
Identify meaning and the impacts of the colonial load on Indigenous peoples.
Apply anti-racism strategies, behaviours and actions.
Workload and assessment
This micro-credential runs over eight weeks. Your total time commitment will be approximately 42 hours, and includes:
8 hours guided learning
17 hours self or peer learning
17 hours for assessment activities
Assessment:
Our Learning So Far (30%): critically reflect on the major themes of the first three modules of learning — the theory, history and impact of (anti) racism; colonisation and the colonial load; First Nations narratives.
Anti-Racism: Taking Action (70%): submit a proposal, presentation or action plan that assesses behaviours and practices in your workplace to contribute to safe, appropriate and inclusive work practices, as well as your own anti-racism stance and respectful and appropriate interactions with First Nations stakeholders.

Group bookings can choose between two learning formats. The micro-credential includes both assessment components detailed under Workload and assessment. The short course offers a similar learning experience but does not include either assessment component.
Your digital certificate
Upon completion of this course, you will receive the Munarra Anti Racism: A Yorta Yorta Context Melbourne MicroCert — the University of Melbourne’s unique micro-credential digital certificate. This certificate demonstrates that you have acquired the knowledge, skills, and abilities outlined in the course’s learning outcomes.
The certificate may also include artefacts such as videos and written materials related to both experimental and work-integrated learning, as well as relevant assessments applicable to your professional life.
