Interview dates

2027 Start Year Intake

International applicants:

Main round - Interviews will take place on 1st June.

Late round - Interviews will take place in November.

Domestic applicants:

Main round - Interviews will take place in November.

Interview requirements

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to discuss their creative work with an interview panel.

Further information will be given to each candidate invited to interview.

The interview will run for approximately 20 minutes and will be conducted online via Zoom Web Conferencing.

The University of Melbourne and the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all participants, regardless of their physical, sensory, cognitive, or psychological abilities. How will I be assessed?

Applicants' portfolio will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

  • Relevant previous experience
  • Writing skills and storytelling ability
  • Imaginative and creative capacity

Applicants'  interview will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

  • Understanding of the course structure and expectations of the program
  • Level of maturity and self-motivation required for the course
  • Storytelling ability and potential for development
  • Clarity and confidence of communication
  • Articulation of their own practice and aspirations
  • Knowledge of the discipline and its practitioners

Please note that all applicants will be ranked based on the above criteria, up to the capacity of places within the course.
