Exchange students do not pay tuition fees to the University of Melbourne, as this is covered by the exchange agreement between your home institution and the University of Melbourne.

Study Abroad

Study abroad students pay a set fee per semester, which allows you to enrol in three or four subjects. Fee are charged at the published rate for that semester and are charged for each semester you are enrolled.

These fees are shown in the table below.

If you enrol in three or more graduate level subjects, you will be enrolled as a graduate student and charged graduate study abroad fees. Graduate Study Abroad students will be enrolled in either graduate band 1, 2 or 3 depending on the discipline areas for the majority of your subjects.

Study Abroad Research

Students who have the agreement of an academic at the University of Melbourne for them to come and complete some research towards their home degree as a study abroad student may be subject to fees. The fees charged will depend on the duration of your Study Abroad Research enrolment and the discipline area for the majority of your research. Speak to your potential supervisor about these fees.

Once you enrol, you will be bound by this fee policy and are agreeing to pay tuition fees for every semester in which you are enrolled. For students commencing in other years, detailed fee information, including the fee policy covering your enrolment, will be provided when you are offered a place at the University.
