Get in touch
We appreciate that the built environs at the University of Melbourne can sometimes be difficult to navigate. Maps of both our Parkville and Southbank campuses can be viewed at maps.unimelb.edu.au. High contrast and screen reader modes are available on maps.unimelb.edu.au as well as multiple languages.
Printed event day programs and maps will also be available from our friendly student volunteers on the day, denoting two types of wheelchair accessible routes – 'accessible' and 'accessible with some assistance' due to gradients. Maps will also include the following information:
- Colour and symbol coded detail to assist with locating different study areas
- Disabled bathroom locations, as well as larger than standard accessible toilets suitable for people with disability and high support needs
- All-gender bathroom locations
- Parenting room locations
- Multi-faith prayer room locations
- Sensory room locations (find more details in 'Sensory rooms' below).
The University has two types of hearing loop technology – a hearing aid loop (does not require receiver) and a hearing infrared system (does require a receiver). Please see venue staff on the day if you require assistance.
We understand Open Day can be busy and at times, overwhelming. If you need a break or to reset, visit one of our sensory rooms. Chat with community members, hang out or just take a break – there’ll be stim toys, Lego and small crafts. Anyone who would benefit is welcome, noting spaces are designed to be friendly to neurodivergent people. Locations will be advised closer to the event.
If you require an Auslan interpreter for any sessions, please contact us.
Many of our staff and students will be at Open Day to welcome visitors to campus – look out for staff or students wearing stickers indicating the various languages they speak.
