Meet Audrey

Working for Bates Smart, one of Australia’s oldest architectural practices, Master of Architecture graduate Audrey Cavalera feels a sense of belonging and credits her studies at Melbourne for instilling a certain way of thinking, a work ethic, and a process of self-awareness around the lifelong learning involved in her discipline.

“What I like most about my work is the ability to shape people’s environments for the better,” Audrey says, and at Bates Smart, she gets to do this every day.

Audrey was fortunate to be exposed to several enriching experiences during her studies, including travelling to the 2018 Venice Biennale of Architecture, and which led to her staying connected to Melbourne by becoming a tutor at the Melbourne School of Design. “It’s important to bestow on other students experiences you had as a student… it’s also a really good way to complement the practice and give back to the process of learning.”
