Graduate Degree Package entry requirements

Discover the four IT and data science Graduate Degree Packages available that enable you to study the Bachelor of Commerce, Design or Science followed by the Master of Data Science or Information Technology. With one of these packages, you'll graduate with a higher qualification than a traditional double degree and gain a competitive edge in the workforce.

Domestic package options and entry requirements

Entry requirements:

  • 2024 ATAR: 95.00+
    • or Access Melbourne guarantee: 91.00*
    • or NZ NCEA (best 80 credits at Level 3): 93
    • or GCE A Level: AAA
    • or International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma: 38
  • In addition to each package's conditions, you must also satisfy the general domestic eligibility requirements
  • Students majoring in Data Science are eligible for the Master of Data Science with up to 50 points of advanced standing, reducing the course duration to 1.5 years

  • International Fee Place (IFP) VTAC code: 3800510493

Progression to masters degree:

  • To progress to the Master of Data Science you will need to complete the relevant prerequisite subjects and a major in Data Science, Statistics, or Computer Science.  There is no minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) requirement in the bachelors degree.
  • The Master of Data Science is not available to start mid-year. If you are scheduled to complete the undergraduate component of your Graduate Degree Package in the middle of the year, you may need to wait until the start of the following year intake (semester one) to commence the graduate component.

  • To progress to the two-year Master of Information Technology you will need to complete the relevant prerequisite subjects. If you also complete the Computing and Software Systems major in the bachelors degree, you will receive 6-months of credit, reducing the length of the Master of Information Technology to 18 months.
