Admission criteria
To be considered for entry into this course, you must have:
- An undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a directly related discipline with a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of at least 65% (or equivalent), AND
- At least 12.5 credit points (one standard subject) of university-level computer science (or equivalent) with content focused on computer programming, AND
- Successfully completed MAST10006 Calculus 2 AND MAST10007 Linear Algebra (or their equivalents).
Disciplines relevant to this course include computer science, data science, statistics, or equivalents.

Graduate Diploma in Data Science
If you don’t have a bachelor's degree in computer science or statistics, you may wish to consider our Graduate Diploma in Data Science.
The Graduate Diploma in Data Science is a pathway into the Master of Data Science for students who have not completed a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
Students in this pathway can complete the Graduate Diploma in Data Science (1 year) and Master of Data Science (1.5 years) in just 2.5 years.
Graduate Access Melbourne (GAM)
We encourage domestic students to explore eligibility for Graduate Access Melbourne (GAM). GAM offers an opportunity for admission to this course even if your tertiary marks are below the standard entry requirements. GAM applicants may also be considered for financial bursaries and Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) where available.
