International House students are welcomed into a safe and supportive community of like-minded young people, where they make new friends, settle in quickly and gain the support they need to achieve academically.

Academic Program

International House offers an extensive learning support program. You can take advantage of our purpose-built library, e-learning space and undergraduate study sessions. Our academic support program aims to assist your learning, help you adjust to university and provide support to help you excel.

Career Development

You will also have outstanding international and local opportunities to develop your network and build career pathways. Career events give students the chance to hear from alumni and industry, diplomatic and academic guests.

Academic seminars are also held regularly. Members of the graduate student community have the opportunity to present on their area of study or research.

Meals and Communal Dining

Meals are served in the Dimmick Dining Hall and provide our residents with a diverse and balanced diet. Dining as a community is one of the best ways to meet people, catch up on news and stay in touch with other residents.

Wellbeing

International House is committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment, where difference is valued and the wellbeing of all residents is paramount. Students have access to the University's medical and counselling services. Study Group Leaders who live among the residents support residents, offer advice and act as mentors.

Music and Entertainment

International House has four music practice rooms, six pianos, a drum kit and various musical instruments for students to use - including a Chinese Guzheng (Zither)! Musically inclined students can share their talent at one of our many cultural and celebration events during the year.

Sport

Sport plays an important part of life at International House and you are encouraged to participate in the Intercollegiate Sporting Program or to join in as spectators.

Intercollegiate sport includes AFL, athletics, badminton, basketball, cricket, football (soccer), hockey, netball, rowing, swimming, tennis and volleyball. The program is open to students of all ability levels and the emphasis at International House is on participation.

Community and Culture

Students at International House have the opportunity to be involved in a rich cultural and social program, both within the House and the wider intercollegiate community. With various events throughout the year including welcome week, cultural nights, formal balls, performances, intercollegiate events, etc. you are guaranteed to have the best time of your life!
