For many years the residential colleges have been a home away from home for University of Melbourne students. Each college has its own unique community spirit and offers a supportive environment that will help you to make lifelong friends, build lasting connections, and become part of a strong network.
With a long-held commitment to diversity and inclusion, residential colleges have a range of over $8.3M in scholarships, bursaries and financial assistance programs available to students from a range of backgrounds, experiences and areas of study. Please see table below for more details.
Graduate House offers flexible stays, from one night, a semester or a few years depending on your needs. If you wish to apply for Graduate House, you can do so directly.

Each residential college has a furnished room, to make your own as well as shared community spaces and three meals are served daily.
When you live at a residential college, you not only share meals, have fun and make close friendships, you become part of something bigger than yourself. From academic support and leadership opportunities to a broad range of cultural and sporting activities to get involved with, college is a place for you to pursue your passions, be exposed to new ideas and interests, and discover who you are.

Queen's College | Provides generous fee-remission scholarships based on various criteria including financial need, academic performance, and contribution to the College community. Trinity College | Provided $3.1 million in scholarships to 197 students in 2024. Scholarships assists students who require financial assistance for campus living. University College | Scholarships are available to commencing and continuing students. Allocations are based on means-tested assessment of financial need, with the majority of the program focused on regional and rural students. Newman College | In 2024, $1.3 million was awarded in scholarships and bursaries to 200 students primarily studying at the University of Melbourne. 70% of undergraduate, and allgraduate students received financial assistance in the form of fee remission towards their College fees.
