Highlights of the Clinical Psychology experience
Expert academics
Our program is supported by excellent research hubs, which draw in high-achieving students and academics. This means you'll be learning from and collaborating with some of the best minds in the field, ensuring a rich and stimulating academic environment.
The day-to-day experience
The two-year, part-time Graduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology offers an intensive program of coursework. This is strongly supported by extensive supervised clinical opportunities, giving you invaluable hands-on experience. You'll start gaining real-world experience in the University's own psychology clinic during your first year.
Clinical experience is incredibly important, not only for gaining your Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registration but also for putting your learned knowledge into practice. Being immersed in a real-world setting within the University of Melbourne's internal clinic maximises your learning and challenges you to help clients deal with mental health challenges.
In your second year, you'll extend this by undertaking external placements, with opportunities available in a wide range of settings, further broadening your practical skills.
Support for Indigenous students
The University of Melbourne is committed to supporting all its students. We have a student-led representative body, the Indigenous Graduate Student Association (IGSA), which aims to support Indigenous graduate coursework and research students, foster collaboration between Indigenous and non-Indigenous students and staff and encourage future Indigenous graduate students. The Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences also has a dedicated Indigenous Support Officer available to help all current students. More information about the resources available to you can be found on their dedicated support page.
