Profile

Peter Brack

Peter Brack's journey into clinical education was sparked by his passion for occupational therapy and a desire to progress in the educational space.

After completing a Bachelor of Applied Science in Occupational Therapy at La Trobe University in 2002 and a Graduate Certificate from the University of Sydney, Peter worked as an occupational therapist for over a decade, gaining diverse experience across various settings.

An opportunity to take on a project role in public health eventually led Peter to work in education, igniting his interest in formalising his training. In 2017, he began his journey through the suite of Clinical Education programs at the University of Melbourne, a decision that would profoundly shape his career trajectory.

Peter's experience with the Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma courses was both enjoyable and relevant to his job. Despite the challenges of balancing study, work and becoming a parent, Peter's maturity and engagement allowed him to thrive. The final year of the Masters program, which included a research component, proved to be a challenging yet rewarding exercise in resilience.

Throughout his studies, Peter appreciated the flexibility of the course coordinators in tailoring assessments to suit the unique needs of allied health professionals. This approach ensured that the content remained relevant and engaging, fostering a collaborative learning environment.

Today, Peter serves as the Director of Education for Allied Health at Northern Health, overseeing the education and training of over 500 staff members, from undergraduate to advanced practice levels. Additionally, he holds the role of Director of Partnerships and Operations at Northern Centre for Health Education and Research, where he builds collaborations with La Trobe University and the University of Melbourne, facilitating joint research and educational initiatives.

Peter's journey through the suite of Clinical Education programs at the University of Melbourne has not only equipped him with the theoretical foundations and practical skills necessary for his current roles but has instilled in him a deep appreciation for the value of lifelong learning. He is applying knowledge gained from his studies to continually enhance the educational experiences of his colleagues and students.
