Profile

Nathan Stam

Associate Professor Nathan Stam (MPhil, PhD) is a public health leader, clinician, and academic specialising in pharmacology, toxicology, and addiction research. He is the Director of Teaching and Learning at the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health and a Principal Research Fellow at North Richmond Community Health.

A/Prof Stam’s work focuses on acute opioid toxicity, opioid dependence, and interventions to reduce opioid-related harms. He has made significant contributions to addressing heroin overdoses and advancing pharmacotherapy in critical care medicine, including as Executive Manager of the Medically Supervised Injecting Room at North Richmond Community Health, among other leadership roles. Dr Stam holds a PhD in Public Health from Monash University and an MPhil in Neuroscience from the University of Melbourne.
