The Master of Surgery by Research at the University of Melbourne is a program in which you undertake research in a specific aspect of surgery under academic supervision. It advances your knowledge, research skills, and competencies in surgical research, equipping you with the expertise to contribute to the advancement of surgical practices and patient care.
Drawing on current evidence-based practices and research methodologies, you'll have the opportunity to develop your analytical reasoning, problem-solving skills, and surgical research capabilities. You'll also acquire the skills to analyse and critique the delivery of surgical care in the current healthcare context.
Through this course, you'll become proficient in using evidence-based knowledge and research skills to plan, implement, and evaluate surgical research projects.
Who is the Master of Surgery for?
This course is for medical graduates of at least two years standing and not less than two years of experience as a medical officer in a hospital affiliated with an appropriate university for teaching purposes. To be eligible, you must have the support of your employing hospital and meet the entry requirements set by the University of Melbourne.
