Study tracks
Align your study with your goals with the choice of two study tracks, coursework and research.
The coursework study track equips students with practical strategies to effectively identify, assess and support young people experiencing mental ill-health challenges. In contrast, the research study track focuses on developing advanced research skills using clinical methodologies employed by Orygen and completing an independent research project—providing a strong foundation for pursuing a PhD.
Coursework study track
The Coursework study track equips you with a deep understanding of young people’s biological, psychological and social needs. You’ll apply evidence-based strategies to identify risks and promote inclusive support for all young people, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth, those in rural areas and LGBTQIA+ communities.
Research study track
Develop your research skills through practical projects using Orygen’s clinical frameworks and methodologies. In this track, you will undertake an impactful research project, preparing a report suitable for publication and providing a pathway to a PhD if desired.
This specialisation is intended to equip you with a viable pathway to a PhD in youth mental health.
