Diabetes Academy - What’s New in Diabetes?" is an important clinical update discussing the keys to treatment for diabetes. The course is intended to increase the knowledge and confidence of clinicians caring for people with diabetes.
Diabetes management is rapidly evolving. Recent large randomized controlled cardiovascular outcome trials have provided the evidence for the introduction of a variety of new classes of medications available for use for people with type 2 diabetes. Advances in technology including the use of continuous glucose monitoring devices and insulin pumps are improving outcomes for people with type 1 diabetes.
This e-learning course provides an evidence-based update for clinicians on the novel medications and emerging technologies available to improve outcomes in people with diabetes. Clinical case studies using video vignettes and multiple-choice questions are designed to optimise comprehension and learning.

Testimonials
"As a GP who is interested in diabetes care, I highly recommend this course. I have taken many courses in diabetes management and I should say this course was something else. It is interactive, covers a wide range of topics in diabetes management and contains videos of real patient examination as well as patient education. The videos make you feel you are visiting patients beside an expert endocrinologist and what can be greater than that?!
Another positive point of the course is that its material was presented according to the evidence-based medicine approach. Last but not least, there are more than 20 case studies in the final assessment and they are very helpful in practicing what has been taught through the course. GREAT!"

"I highly recommend Diabetes Academy. It is an excellent resource full of information and effective training. For me, it was particularly successful in telling me more about the management of diabetes through it’s systematic breakdown of medication categories. This method made it easy for me to further my knowledge of pharmacology and commit the information to memory. In addition, the content of the course is well referenced and evidenced based. It was concise but also comprehensive. Overall, the course not only expanded my understanding of diabetes management but also updated my knowledge to the outcomes from the latest research."

"I am a GP and have completed the diabetes and the obesity courses from the University of Melbourne. I have found them to be the most educational courses of any GP training I have done. Written by doctors who work in the field and not a drug company. Plus a lot of case studies that then give you confidence practising the learnt information on your own. The diabetes course has been invaluable as I now have a real grasp of all the new drugs and where they fit into treatment. The online format meant I could do small sections at a time when it suited me (eg at the hairdresser). FANTASTIC!"
