Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)
If you are applying to the University of Melbourne as an Access Melbourne non-school leaver entry category applicant , the SAT may help you to demonstrate your academic aptitude and likelihood to succeed in your chosen course.
What is the SAT?
The SAT Reasoning Test is designed to assess analysis and problem solving abilities to provide us with a measure of the critical thinking skills you’ll need in order to achieve academic success at Melbourne.
The SAT is an international examination administered by the College Board in the United States of America.
If you intend to apply to the University of Melbourne under our non-school leaver entry pathway and support your application with SAT results, you must complete the Evidence-based Reading and Writing, and Mathematics sections of the SAT. The Optional Essay section is not compulsory to support your University of Melbourne application.
Your SAT results must be no more than two years old in order to be considered for admission purposes.

Where and when can I complete the SAT?
SAT examinations are run by the College Board year-round.
You can complete your SAT at a number of different times and locations in Victoria and around Australia, please check the College Board website to book an examination that suits you.
How to register for the SAT
You must register for the SAT through the College Board, the University of Melbourne is not responsible for the administration of this examination.

What SAT score do I need to achieve?
Different undergraduate courses at the University of Melbourne require different SAT scores to demonstrate non-school leaver entry applicants’ academic aptitude and likelihood to succeed in the program.
