About selection
When assessing (and where relevant, ranking) applications, the Selection Committee will consider:
- Prior academic performance
In addition to contacting your professional references, the Selection Committee will interview you in person, or by telephone or video link. You may also be required to undertake a pre-clinical test and/or be invited to observe in the clinic and meet current students.
Places in this course are limited by the availability of clinical facilities, and entry is extremely competitive. This course typically accepts 15-20 students per year.
Evidence of completed professional development courses, primary fellowship examinations, postgraduate study and active participation in continuing education in your desired field will be well-regarded.
If you are an international applicant aiming to undertake a full-time academic career after completing this degree, your application may be given preference. You may already hold a teaching position in a university or teaching hospital, with a commitment to return on completing this course. If you cannot obtain a definite commitment to a teaching position, a suitable letter of recommendation from the Dean indicating your potential for an academic career will be very helpful. The option of the MPhil degree, the PhD degree, or a combination of clinical specialty training in the DCD followed by the PhD degree, could also be considered.
The Selection Committee may seek further information to clarify any aspect of an application in accordance with the Selection and Admission Policy.
Meeting the minimum entry requirements for this course does not guarantee selection.
