Internships
As a part of the PhD, students can undertake a Research Internship. These paid opportunities will allow you to strengthen transferable skills and expand your professional networks, while engaging in research and development (R&D) activities with an external organisation.

Associate Professor Ivan Balbuzanov
Graduate Research Director (Economics)
Ivan Balbuzanov joined the Department of Economics after receiving a PhD in economics from the University of California - Berkeley. He is currently an Associate Professor in economics and an affiliate of the Centre for Market Design. His primary research, teaching, and supervision focus is microeconomic theory in particular, market design, game theory, mechanism design, and strategic communication
Professor Roger Wilkins
Graduate Research Director (Melbourne Institute)
Roger Wilkins is a Professorial Fellow in the Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research as well as being Co-Director of the HILDA Survey Project.
His research interests include the nature, causes and consequences of labour market outcomes; retirement behaviour and outcomes; the distribution and dynamics of individuals' economic wellbeing; and the incidence and determinants of poverty, social exclusion and welfare dependence.
