Admission criteria

To be considered for entry into this course, you must have:

  • An undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a directly related discipline, OR
  • An undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in any discipline, AND at least two years of documented relevant work experience, OR
  • At leave five years of documented relevant work experience, including clear evidence of career development, professional writing, and general professional achievement or practice comparable to that expected of undergraduate degree holders.

You must also submit:

  • A curriculum vitae (CV) describing your work experience and tertiary and other qualifications as supplement to transcripts.

Disciplines directly related to this course include education, health science, social work, or equivalents.

Work history relevant to this course may include roles held in the health, education, justice or community sectors.

English language requirements

All applicants to the University of Melbourne must satisfy the English language requirements. This may be achieved in a number of ways, including recognised previous study taught and assessed entirely in English or an approved English language test. Additional information

If you enter directly into this course, having not previously completed the Graduate Diploma of Adolescent Health and Wellbeing, you are required to achieve with a weighted average mark of at least H2B (75%) in the graduate diploma level subjects to progress to the final 100 credit points of this degree. If you fail to achieve a 75% average in the graduate diploma level subjects but do pass all relevant subjects, you will be eligible to receive the Graduate Diploma of Adolescent Health and Wellbeing as an exit award.

Graduate Access Melbourne (GAM)

We encourage domestic students to explore eligibility for Graduate Access Melbourne (GAM). GAM offers an opportunity for admission to this course even if your tertiary marks are below the standard entry requirements. GAM applicants may also be considered for financial bursaries and Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) where available.

GAM categories include coming from a rural area, being an Indigenous Australian, experiencing financial hardship or personal difficulties, having refugee status, or living with a disability or medical condition. In assessing applications, we look to balance opportunity and your capacity to succeed.

Advanced Standing

Prior studies may be credited towards your degree and potentially reduce the duration of your course. This is known as Advanced Standing (also known as credit or recognition of prior learning).

You may be eligible for up to 100 points of credit if you complete the Graduate Diploma in Adolescent Health and Wellbeing at the University of Melbourne with a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of at least H2B (75%) (or equivalent).
